Free meditation classes presented by the City of Port Phillip.

You've probably heard about the benefits of meditation: sharperthinking, reduced stress, better health, improved Meditate in the Gardensconcentration, relief from pain, deep relaxation, enhanced pleasure, greater awareness and so on. Perhaps though, you were put off by the idea that you had to sit cross-legged, chant a weird mantra or bow down to a guru. If so, you'll be pleased to know that meditation need not involve any of this.

Meditation is the art of relaxing the body and calming the mind, whenever you want to. It is based on simple principles and is easy to learn and do. Join Matt Young from the Melbourne Meditation Centre (www.melbournemeditationcentre.com.au) on Tuesday mornings in April and May for free community sessions in the St Kilda Botanic Gardens.

Matt will guide you through a range of simple, enjoyable meditations that will help you to start the day feeling relaxed and clear-headed.
