Neighbourhood Forums in 2001 Printer friendly Email to a friend   Rate this page

Elwood was the site of the first neighbourhood forum, held in mid October 2001. A raft of topics was raised, with issues discussed including the heritage overlay in the area and also queries relating to the foreshore.

The forum for East St Kilda was held in mid November 2001at the Council Chamber of the St Kilda Town Hall.

And on the same night as its East St Kilda counterpart, a St Kilda neighbourhood forum was held at the Cora Graves Community Centre.

One subject raised at this forum was the issue of overcrowding of footpaths in shopping centres. Attendees learned that guidelines for disabled access are to be implemented this year. These will have far-reaching implications on footpath space and trading practices.

The final neighbourhood forum for 2001 was held in Port Melbourne on Thursday 13 December.

Several groups addressed the evening including Friends of the Foreshore and Bay Traders Association.
