The City of Port Phillip has completed and printed the Multicultural Strategic Framework, which was developed after numerous community and staff consultations in 2006. The Multicultural Strategic Framework guides the development and implementation of broad ranging council policy and programs provided to our multicultural residents and ethnic groups.

Development of the Multicultural Strategic Framework
The Report of the Multicultural Strategic Framework was developed based on input from over 150 culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) residents / service users and over 50 staff and external service providers.
It is intended that this framework will set the strategic direction for Council's responsiveness to its Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities. The purpose of the Multicultural Strategic Framework is to improve access, remove barriers, and promote awareness of cultural diversity in Port Phillip. The Multicultural Strategic Framework conveys to Council management and staff and the residents of Port Phillip, the elected Council's policy, principles and commitment.
The Multicultural Strategic Framework has been developed as the basis that can be used by Port Phillip Council over several years. It has been designed to have annual actions that allow for flexibility in seizing opportunities that arise and enables integration into the corporate planning of the organisation.
Actions from the Multicultural Strategic Framework
One of the first actions arising from the development of the Multicultural Strategic Famework was the development and endorsement of the Statement of Commitment to Multiculturalism 2006. This statement was developed to show support and recognise the contributions made by multicultural communities to the City of Port Phillip. It was unanimously endorsed at Council in december 2006.
Linked to this was also the development of the Refugee Asylum Seeker Policy Statement, which again shows Council's support and recognition of the contributions made by communities having arrived as refugees to Port Phillip.
