Memorials & Monuments

Memorials are important markers which commemorate significant events and people associated with the City of Port Phillip. Memorials keep alive the memories of individuals or occasions for those who knew of them. They also inform others of their underlying story.
A memorial may take the form of named buildings, rooms, streets, structures or public spaces or of specially created plaques, statues, monuments and artworks.
This policy guides the decision making process for:-
- the management and maintenance of all memorials and monuments
- creation of new memorials in public places within the City. The policy includes the criteria used to assess applications for new memorials.
