City of Port Phillip Life Saving Clubs

Council is investing in the future of our Life Saving Clubs.  We have allocated up to three million for new buildings; two million for the South Melbourne Life Saving Club (SMLSC) building, and one million for the smaller St Kilda Life Saving Club (SKLSC) building.

Funding for both Life Saving Clubs buildings has been granted with the knowledge that additional funding would be required from state government and other sources for the projects to proceed.

The state government has allocated six million dollars over three years for the whole of Victoria, and we are very proud of our three million dollar investment in just one municipality.

Our life saving clubs provides invaluable emergency and community services.  They are run by volunteers, who offer training and development, and volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Council looks forward to working with both SKLSC AND SMLSC on the next stages of each of these projects.

There are five life saving clubs in the City of Port Phillip: Elwood, St Kilda, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, and Sandrigde. Out of these the SKLSC and SMLSC are most in need of upgrade.
