Landscape & Urban Design
A team of Landscape Architects design and project manage improvement projects in parks & open spaces. Projects range from the small like that of Pickles / Raglan Street neighbourhood hub to major constructions like the St Kilda promenade. The team are qualified Landscape Architects who design and project manage the implementation of capital works projects.
Current projects include:
Perce White Reserve
The coastal reserve is situated on the city’s most westerly corner within Port Melbourne adjoining Sandridge Beach and Webb Dock. Community input is sought on Perce White Reserve to assist council in the development of an updated landscape and management plan for the reserve. Sandrige Beach Upgrade
Progress Report
- Public tender to construct park upgrades has been advertised on Saturday 29 August.
- Tender will close on Friday 18 September and it is expected that it will be awarded in October.
- Hardscape construction including lighting, paths, furniture and playground will take place as soon as possible (October-November)
- Planting will occur in April-May 2010, to ensure better plant survival rates during cool and wet winter months.

Jacoby Reserve

Jacoby Reserve
Catani Gardens Playground and Picnic Area upgrade, St Kilda
On 7 March 2009, City of Port Phillip Council consulted the community on two design options for Catani Gardens picnic area and playground upgrade. Playground Option 1 (below) was chosen by residents and visitors to Catani Gardens and will be installed with slight modifications (two separate swings instead of one double-bay swing).
Port Melbourne Light Rail Reserves
The light rail reserve consists of several medium sized linear reserves named Hester, Turner, Walter, Smith, Gill, Howe, Fennel and Page Reserve. Combined they are known as Light Rail Reserve. The reserve flanks the length of the tram line from Port Melbourne foreshore where the Spirit of Tasmania docks to Montage Street South Melbourne where the tram continues into Melbourne CBD. Over the next twelve months Light Rail Reserve will undergo the following renovations:
- Increased pedestrian safety at tram access points
- Increased planting along indigenous vegetation corridors including improving soil fertility
- Establishment of new pathways along the South of the reserve including shaded seating areas
