Biography

John has lived in Port Phillip since 1984.  He is a former director and partner of Bonacci Group, a leading consulting engineering firm, and has a Diploma of Civil Engineering, (Caulfield Institute of Technology) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (University of Melbourne).  John’s professional expertise and experience is in the design and supervision of the structural and civil engineering components of building, industrial and infrastructure projects.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia and a member of the Society for Sustainability and Environmental Engineering.

John believes that, while climate change is our greatest and most urgent problem, it also offers enormous opportunities.  Local government can achieve much in its own right, but can also have a profound influence on other levels of government.

As a former director and partner of a leading consulting engineering firm, John is a supporter of property development and urban renewal but wants to see it done in ways that maximise environmental and community benefits.

His technical and management background will help in dealing with council matters, particularly those relating to planning and development, traffic and parking, waste management and financial management.

He brings to council years of practical experience in business and in the construction industry, as well as a commitment to the environment and to open and accountable governance.

John is a member of the Australian Greens, ACF, TWS, VNPA, SAP and BV.
