Student Retention Action Team Pilot Program
INVERT: The Innovative Engagement and Retention Team project is a partnership between schools, education providers, youth services and Government in the Local Government Areas (LGA’s) of Port Phillip and Stonnington.
INVERT aims to achieve sustainable, tangible outcomes for young people aged 10 – 19, who are currently disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education, training and employment. The project aims to create a whole of community approach and shared action plan to identify and reengage these young people into appropriate and ongoing education or employment pathways. INVERT works within the Youth Commitment framework, reflects the principles of Victorian and Australian Government education and youth development policy and supports the Nationwide COAG goal of 90% plus Year 12 completion by 2015.
Purpose
This provision of localised support and referral program with a primary focus given to young people at risk of disengagement from education who are residents, students or have a significant connection to the City of port Phillip reside in,
Objectives
- Improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people most at risk of disengagement or already disengaged.
- Increase support to all stakeholders working with young people at risk of disengagement (schools, services, parents, police, and mental health services).
- Increase local knowledge about young people 10-19 at risk of disengagement in order to best target resources and programs. Research and evaluation
