CONFINED 4 is a Programming Partnership between the City of Port Phillip, The Torch, The Brosnan Centre, Department of Corrections and the Department of Justice. Wanting to highlight the over representation of Indigenous people in custody, CONFINED has provided Indigenous prisoners with an opportunity outside of NAIDOC week to connect with members of the community and wider society. The fourth CONFINED has received tri‐annual funding from The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office For the Arts, along with 18 month funding from the Federal Attorney General’s Department through their Proceeds of Crime Fund. These funds go towards the employment of The Torch’s Statewide Indigenous Arts Officer working in Victorian Prisons and with former Indigenous Prisoners now released back into the community. A key public outcome of this role is the CONFINED exhibitions.
