Home Library Service

What is the Home Library Service?

The Home Library Service is a free delivery service for residents of Port Phillip who are unable to visit the library due to ill-health, frailty, disability or recovering from an operation or injury, whether on a temporary or permanent basis. Visits can be made fortnightly, 3 weekly or monthly as required.

What can be borrowed?

  • Books (in English, Greek, Russian, Yiddish, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, Polish, Vietnamese, Hungarian and German)
  • Large Print books (English only)
  • Talking Books (CD and cassette)
  • Children's books
  • Music CD's
  • DVD's
  • Magazines
  • Videos
  • Book rests
  • CD/Cassette players may also be borrowed for 3 months when available.

Interested in volunteering?

We rely on support given by volunteers to deliver library items and have a network of 30-35 volunteers who assist us in delivering to 180 borrowers across the City of Port Phillip.  Volunteering for Home Library takes approximately 1-2 hours each fortnight.

If you are interested in joining the Home Library Service, either as a borrower or volunteer, please ring Julie or Sue on 92096652 or email hls@portphillip.vic.gov.au

Use eServices to ask us a question, request information or give us feedback online. If you prefer call ASSIST on (03) 9209 6777 or TTy (03) 9209 6713 and ask for Port Phillip Library Service.
