What is Home-Based Child Care?
Home-Based Child Care (also known as Family Day Care) is a professional home-based child care service established in Australia for over 30 years. Over 90,000 children are currently enrolled through 340 schemes servicing over 12,000 carers in almost every region of Australia.
It is highly regulated and complies with Australian government guidelines and Family Day Care Quality Assurance (accreditation) through the National Childcare Accreditation Council, National Standards and scheme policies.

How to apply for Home-Based Child Care?
Council operates a central childcare waiting list for its Council-Managed Children's Centres and Home-Based Childcare (also known as Family Day Care). It is a centralised contact point for information related to enrolment for long day care (including kindergarten programs that operate within a long day care setting) and Home Based Childcare.

Port Phillip Home-Based Child Care Workers
City of Port Phillip is one of only three local governments in Victoria to officially employ home-based child care workers. Like other council staff, the care providers receive leave entitlements, including annual leave and sick leave.
Care providers are required to participate in professional training and to undertake study in Certificate 111 Community Services (Child Care) if they don't already have this qualification. The council covers the cost of the training and also provides other training and development through home visits and playgroup sessions conducted by council children's services staff. Council co-ordination unit staff support, supervise and resource home-based child care workers.
