When is a Hoarding permit required?

A Hoarding permit is required for the placement of safety fencing/hoarding of an area for scaffolding or other equipment on any Port Phillip road, footpath or nature strip.  It is used to protect pedestrians, and/or for security of a building site.

Applying for a Hoarding permit

1. Complete the application form

Complete the 1 second download via 56K modemApplication for the erection of precautions over the street alignment (hoarding) and return it to the council's Municipal Building Surveyor located at the South Melbourne Town Hall, 208 Bank Street, South Melbourne. Telephone (03) : 9209 6253     Fax: (03) 9536 2741. A permit will then be issued to the applicant with an invoice, requesting payment within 7 working days.

2. Fee

$300.00 Application Fee +
Occupancy $5.00 per m2, per week, or part thereof.
