Since its inception in 2004, 25 streets that did not have trees previously, have been planted and have improved the local environment and contributed to the net increase of the cities tree assets. New Streetscape for - Alma Road St KildaAlma Road has been selected to receive new street trees, as the existing are in poor form and condition and do not provide a quality streetscape. A mixture of Magnolia grandiflora ' St Mary' and Gleditsia tricanthos 'Limegold' will be planted to the nature strips on both sides of the road. Cupressus sempervirens 'Glauca' will be planted in front of the cenetery to match the ones already established on Hotham Street. Tree removal and replacement will be undertaken in August, all trees will be mulched and staked and receive supplimentary watering throughout the summer for two years.
