What is FReeZA?
Events for young people by young people!
FReeZA is a Victorian Government program. FReeZA provides funding so that local youth based organisations can sponsor a FReeZA Committee of young people to stage live musical and cultural events. The FReeZA will be replacing the now defunct Young Persons Reference Group. FReeZA aims to:
- support young artists to perform to an audience of their peers, in their local community.
- provide opportunities for young people to exhibit leadership qualities, to gain event management skills and to ascertain work
- experience in the contemporary music industry
- promote the message that drugs and alcohol are not necessary to have a good time
- provide information on the negative health implications of substance abuse deliver community safety and crime prevention programmes
The wellbeing all of those who attend a FReeZA production is paramount. This is why FReeZA promotes safe and secure events. This provides peace mind for attendees but also for parents and the whole of the community. For more information on FReeZA go to their website FReeZA.
The City of Port Phillip and FReeZA
The City of Port Phillip in conjunction with FReeZA intends to highlight and celebrate the municipality's talented young people, presenting a positive image of our youth to the whole of our community. To do this we will:
- provide young people the opportunity to develop a positive sense of self through active participation, be it either in the planning or performance of a cultural event
- foster a positive relationship between young people and the whole of their community
How to get involved!
The City of Port Phillip FReeZA Collective aligns events with organisations that support the healthy development of young people. The City of Port Phillips doesn't have a single FReeZA group but a number of groups who come together to support different events. Please contact the FReeZA worker at the City of Port Phillip to get involved with one of these events.
