Functions in Parks

Our parks are very popular places for parties and picnics, so bookings are essential for groups of 20 people or more.

If you are planning an event such as a family gathering, birthday or Christmas party for more than 20 people you will need a permit.

Permits for the St Kilda Botanic Gardens will only be granted for Wedding Ceremonies.

If your event:

  • uses limited or no infrastructure,
  • is not advertising a product or organisation and
  • will have little to no effect on local residences and businesses

Please contact the Meetings & Events Department.

If your event:

  • involves infrasturcture such as the set up of marquees
  • is promoting/advertising a product or
  • your organisation may impact local residents/businesses

Please visit the Events and Activities page

Many parks feature amenities such as free electric BBQ's, tables, shelter, toilets and play areas.

Please visit the Parks & Playgrounds locations page for more information.

For information on other events, please visit the Events and Activities page.
