An event permit is required for any organised sporting, recreational, cultural, commercial or social gathering of people which is held on land managed by the Council.

We host numerous outdoor events over the summer period. These range from minor social functions and sporting events, such as fun runs, to major events like the St Kilda Festival and the Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlon.

Major Events

The Ashes Live 2010 at South Beach ReserveEvents are considered Major Events if the proposed event is likely to:

  • Attract over 1,000 participants, or
  • Require significant road closures, or
  • Create significant impact on the use of open space within the City of Port Phillip, or
  • Is a long stay event (conducted over two or more successive days)

You can apply for an event permit for these types of events through the  Expression of Interest Process (EOI).

The EOI Process will open on the 15th June 2011 and closes on the 1st July 2011.

Once applications have been assessed and approved through the EOI process we then set our Summer Calendar of Events.

Medium Events

Events that involve between 200 - 1000 participants, do not involve road closures and are not long stay events can apply for an event permit throughout the year.
