Resource Recovery Centre (Transfer Station)

Operating Hours Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm. Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm. See the Resource Recovery Centre page for more details.
 

Collection Days

Your garbage will be collected from the street outside your house every week. Put your bin out before 6:00am or the night before your collection day. Return your bin inside your property following collection.

Weekday Area in Port Phillip

Monday

Albert Park area bounded by St.Kilda Rd, Albert Rd, Canterbury Rd, Nimmo St, Beaconsfield Pde, Mills St, Richardson St, Pickles St, City Rd, Kings Way and Dorcas St.

Tuesday

St Kilda/East St Kilda area bounded by Barkly Street, Carlisle Street, Hotham Street, Inkerman Street, Orrong Road and Dandenong Road/Queens Way.

Wednesday

St Kilda/Elwood area bounded by Carlisle Street, Hotham Street, Glen Huntly Road, St Kilda Street, Ormond Esplanade/Marine Parade, Barkly Street, Dickens St and Brighton Rd.

Thursday

Middle Park/St Kilda Road areas bounded by St Kilda Road, High Street, Punt Road/Barkly Street, Carlisle St, Brighton Rd, Dickens St, Barkly St, Marine Parade/Beaconsfield Parade, Nimmo St, Canterbury Rd Fitzroy St, Queens Rd and Albert Road.

Friday

Port Melbourne area bounded by Pickles Street, Richardson St, Mills St, The Boulevard/Beach Street, Todd Road and Westgate Freeway.

 What You Can Put in Your Bin

Only normal household garbage will be collected and this should be fully contained within the bin size provided so that the lid is closed. Building material or soil will not be collected.  For a detailed list of what you can and can't put in your garbage bin please refer to our A-Z guide to Waste and Recycling.
 

Bin Not Collected?

Collection times can vary. Recycling can be collected up to 6pm on your collection day. If your recycling container is missed, please contact ASSIST on (03) 9209 6777, TTy (03) 9209 6713 or use eServices. We will arrange for the recycling bin to be emptied within 24 hours.

Single Dwellings

80 litre $30 rebate per annum (not available to flats or apartments)
120 litre Free - included in rates (standard size provided)
240 litre $120 surcharge annually

Flats and Apartments

 Bin size Cost
240 litre Free - included in rates (shared use at a maximum number of one bin per two flats / apartments)

New, Missing or Damaged Bins

Council can arrange delivery of a replacement bin if your bin is missing or you move into an existing residence where there are no bins. An application form and statutory declaration must first be completed for missing bins.  You can down load this here BIN APPLICATION FORM and return it to council via fax on (03) 9209 6311, or mail to City of Port Phillip Private Bag 3 St Kilda 3182.
