Dumped Rubbish
Dumping of rubbish is illegal in the City of Port Phillip and can result in fines of up to $239. This year the City of Port Phillip will be focusing its efforts to reduce dumped rubbish by targeting repeat offenders who dump illegal rubbish. The new signage and monitoring program will indicate where an offence has been committed. With the communities support, Council intends on fining those responsible to reduce the incidence of illegally dumped rubbish in the city. To report dumped rubbish online use eServices. If you prefer you can call ASSIST on (03) 9209 6777 or TTy (03) 9209 6713 and say you want to report dumped rubbish.
Residents, Tenants and Property Managers alike, are all responsible for our cities environment and dumped rubbish is something we can stop. To avoid the environmental damage (and potential fines) associated with dumped rubbish please dispose of your hard waste correctly – either via drop off to the Resource Recovery Centre (White Street, South Melbourne) or via port Phillip’s FREE hard waste booking service.
FREE HARD WASTE BOOKING SERVICE
The City of Port Phillip provides a free hard rubbish booking service to all of its residents. To have your hard and green waste collected, first call the council to book a collection from your Port Phillip property (four free collections per year). Bookings are essential. If you don't book, your waste won't be collected and you might find yourself facing a fine for littering or illegally dumping rubbish. To book this service contact ASSIST on (03) 9209 6777 or TTy (03) 9209 6713. Alternatively, visit the Hard and Green waste Booking page for more information.
