Youth Services
Duke Street Festival
The Duke Street Festival is organised by the St Kilda Youth Services in collaboration wit the City of Port Phillip and is funded by FreeZa. The event is organised by the young people that attend this service.
The City of Port Phillip in conjunction with FReeZA intends to highlight and celebrate the municipality's talented young people, presenting a positive image of our youth to the whole of our community. To do this we will:
- provide young people the opportunity to develop a positive sense of self through active participation, be it either in the planning or performance of a cultural event
- foster a positive relationship between young people and the whole of their community.
St Kilda Youth Services aim is to enable young people to share equally in society by developing meaningful connections to their community through youth participation, civic engagement, and celebration of performance.
The 2011 festival attracted more than 200 people through out the day. Visitors enjoyed food and coffee, market stalls, reptile show, giant trampoline, face painting and many cup cakes.
