The 11th City of Port Phillip's Design and Development Awards

The City of Port Phillip encourages design excellence in architecture, sustainable development and urban art. The design awards were the first to be held by a local government in Victoria and commenced in 1998.

The 11th Design and Development Awards were held on the 9th May 2012. The awards brought together leaders in the construction industry to celebrate recent development within Port Phillip in eight categories, including the Mayor's award.

The speaker for the evening was Peter Maddison, TV Presenter and award winning Architect who spoke to the topic of 'Innovative Design'. Winners included:- 

Category 1: Best new single dwelling or alteration

Jackson Clements Burrows 39 Harold St, Middle Park

Category 2: Best new development 1-5 storeys

Marcus O’Reilly Architects 19 Ruskin St, Elwood

Category 3: Best new development 6 storeys or more

Neometro Architects 78 Inkerman St, St Kilda Harper Lane

Category 4: Best non-residential development

Hayball 21 Yarra Place South Melbourne

Category 5: Best Heritage re-development

Rob Morgan of Rationale Design 14 Nimmo Street, Middle Park

Category 6: Best Sustainable Development

Marcus O’Reilly Architects 19 Ruskin Street Elwood

Category 7: Best Contribution to Urban Art

Barbara Weir – My Mother’s Country at 216 Rouse St, Port Melbourne

Category 8: Mayors Award

Gregory Burgess Architects – Public Amenities Block, Middle Park
