Cultural Development Fund

The Cultural Development Fund (CDF) seeks to: 

  • Support artists and organisations to develop and realise creative ideas and projects within the City of Port Phillip
  • Support community managed projects
  • Generate arts and cultural activity
  • Build cultural identity
  • Support and celebrate community diversity
  • Support heritage initiatives

2016/17 Cultural Development Fund Grants.

Applications to the 2016/17 Cultural Development Fund are now closed.

In 2016 Council received 48 applications to the Fund. A total of $135,800 was awarded to 19 projects.These projects will be occurring in Port Phillip between July 2016 and June 2017.

The City of Port Phillip Cultural Development Fund is an annual fund.
The next funding round will be announced in February 2017 for projects that will occur between July 2017 and June 2018.
The City of Port Phillip uses an online grants application process.

Cultural Development Fund Guidelines and Criteria

It is recommended that prospective applicants read the current criteria and consider discussing a project idea with the Cultural Development Fund officer prior to submitting an application. Applicants proposing projects in public space should discuss the proposal with the Fund officer well in advance of the submission date.

The key role of the Cultural Development Fund Committee is to assess applications for Cultural Development Fund annual grants. This Committee meets annually and members are appointed for a 3 year period. The Committee consists of a Port Phillip Councillor and four appointed community members.

In 2015 Council received 52 applications to the Fund. A total of $136,500 was awarded to 19 projects
