Council Elections
Seven municipal wards make up the City of Port Phillip. An elected councillor represents each ward.
A Council election will be conducted on Saturday 29 November 2008.
This election will be conducted under the new ward structure that was determined by an electoral review conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) in 2007. Even though the structure of the wards has changed considerably, Port Phillip still comprises seven wards and there will be one councillor elected to each ward.

Attendance Election
The election will be conducted as an attendance election by the VEC, however, postal voting will be available for approximately six weeks prior to election day. Voters will also be able to cast their votes in person for two weeks prior to election day. Details about postal voting and early voting will be advertised in VEC promotional material and the VEC website www.vec.vic.gov.au closer to the election.
Polling places will be open from 8.00am to 6.00pm on election day.
Every person listed on Council's Voters' Roll will receive a personalised card (easy vote card) advising which ward they are in and where they can vote on election day.
