Footpath Trading Guidelines

The City of Port Phillip is currently undertaking a review of out Footpath Trading Guidelines.

Our aim is to ensure that we continue to provide an excellent environment for local business to trade on the footpath whilst maintaining the highest quality standards for the use of public space for the wider community

The footpaths within our community are used by a variety of people including shoppers, tourists, locals, elderly citizens, children, those with special needs, pet owners and young families. Whilst our footpaths cater for a diverse range of needs, Council's primary commitment is to ensure they provide unobstructed and safe passage for pedestrians of all abilities.

We are now seeking your views on footpath trading in your community.

  • What are your issues or concerns?
  • How can footpath trading be improved?
  • What opportunities are there to improve the level of service Council can provide for footpath trading permit holders?

Please take the time to fill in the feedback survey to provide us with your thoughts.

The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.com. This will take approximately 5 minutes of your time. All feedback is due by the 24th October 2008.

For further information about the Footpath Trading Review please contact Stav Athanasopoulos on 9209 6852.

St Kilda Harbour and Foreshore

Parks Victoria, in partnership with a number of key agencies is inviting comment on the St Kilda Harbour Concept Plan.  Parks Victoria (Committee of Management for the harbour area) jointly with the Department of Sustainability and Environment and City of Port Phillip (CoPP) has prepared a concept plan for redevelopment of the St Kilda Harbour precinct.

The St Kilda Harbour Concept Plan seeks to protect marine environmental values while introducing new elements such as a sea pool integrated into a new pier and a penguin viewing boardwalk.  The plan aims to create an environmentally sustainable safe harbour for recreational boating while enhancing non-boating related use of the harbour, including access to the water for people with limited mobility.

Parks Victoria is inviting comment on the concept plan until 26 September.
The Harbour Concept Plan can be electronically viewed at www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/3stkilda.cfm

or in hard copy at the following locations:
- Martin Foley's MLA office, 357 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne
- Parks Victoria office, 31-35 Albert Road Drive, South Melbourne

Public Open Days - 2 public open days were held at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Club on 16th August and 23rd August.
