Community Plan
Community Leadership Component

What do we mean by community leadership?
This component of the Community Plan outlines how Council can support, value and increase the number of people active in the community. In this context, community leadership embraces the concept of 'active citizens', people who have the vision, capacity, personal values and interest and willingness to contribute to their community alongside the belief that our 'community leaders' are fundamental to the community's capacity to work together.
Community leadership in our city
Our community leadership program consists of a series of events and forums around local and global issues. The program aims to provide opportunities for participants to gain knowledge of a range of social and environmental issues, network across the broader community, partner and collaborate successfully, and have fun and build relationships.
Do you have a great community project in mind but are not sure how to make it happen?
As a potential Community Leader, we invite you to learn how to take action with others in your community and make a difference with our FREE Community Leadership Training course, in February and March 2009.

Community Plan - First Year Report Back
The Port Phillip 2007-2017 Community Plan sets out agreed community priorities developed at the 2007 Community Summit. These priorities influence Councillors when they set their top priorities for the Council Plan each year.
On September 9, Council hosted a forum at the St Kilda Town Hall to report on actions taken, seek feedback on how we monitor progress and examine community involvement and participation.

The Community Plan First Year Report Cards have been designed to report back on the progress for each of the fifteen priorites and each component of the Community Plan. They have been designed to report back on what Council has done over the last year and in some cases, what has been done by working together with Council, other levels of government, the community and other organisations. They also report on the indicators which are designed to track our progress. Each report card can be downloaded below.
