Community Housing

As well as being a direct provider of community housing, the City of Port Phillip coordinates the provision of community housing in Port Phillip for the state government's Office of Housing and other community housing organisations.

Facilitation can be any assistance required and able to be provided, in order to help support or develop community housing projects. These projects could be either Department of Human Services - Office of Housing owned - community organisation managed projects, joint ventures between the Department of Human Services - Office of Housing and other community housing organisations, or projects just involving community housing organisations.  These organisations can include churches, charitable organisations, community housing management organisations and community housing providers.

Facilitation assistance also includes:

  • Providing housing needs information
  • Property identification
  • Property valuation information
  • Assistance during the planning permit application process
  • Support for funding applications with the Department of Human Services-Office of Housing
  • Other assistance as required and suitable
