There are many people and organisations that do great work in Port Phillip and we want to give them some well-deserved recognition. The Civic Awards acknowledge & recognise volunteer effort in community life, individual effort and group effort, the small efforts and the large. It provides an opportunity for you to tell us about the great work in Port Phillip that has made a difference to you. Nominations to the Civic Awards are now closed for 2008.
Join in the Celebration!
The Civic Award recipients will be announced at an end of year event that places the spotlight on all volunteer participation in the community. The celebration will include the presentation of Community Service Awards and the announcement of Civic Awards for:
- 2008 Citizen of the Year
- 2008 Young People's Award
- 2008 Civic Project of the Year
- 2008 Seniors' Award

Australian Honours - Australian honours recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions of extraordinary Australians. National Australia Bank Volunteer Awards - Since 1997 the National Australia Bank has been acknowledging and rewarding community organisations that support and include volunteers. Nominations are open once again under the categories: Art & Culture; Community Service and Development; Education & Youth Development; Emergency and Safety; Environment and Wildlife; Health and Wellbeing; Sport and Recreation. Victorian Honour Roll of Women - The Victorian Honour Roll acknowledges the achievements of women from all walks of life who have made an outstanding contribution in their particular field and who have empowered other women. On International Women's Day, each year additional women are added to the Honour Roll. To date, 332 women have been included on the Honour Roll from a broad sector of the community, across a range of ages, cultures and backgrounds. Human Rights Medal & Awards - The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission present these annual awards to individuals or groups in Australia that have promoted: action to overcome discrimination or infringements of human rights; greater harmony between people of different race, sex, age, sexuality or ethnic origin; the rights of Indigenous Australians; equal opportunity for people with a disability, or awareness of issues of injustice or inequality. The ANZAC Awards - In its desire to honour those who serve in peace as well as perpetuating the memory and gallantry of those who served in war, the Returned Services League of Australia has established a series of National Honours - the ANZAC Awards. These awards are designed so that those men and women amongst us in the wider community can be recognised and honoured at a national level.
