Boating and Swimming Zones

In consultation with the community, Parks Victoria and Marine Safety Victoria has reviewed the boating zones and around the bay. The new boating and swimming only zones have been approved and were implemented during 2011.

St Kilda Marina

 

Parks Victoria has undertaken local and general education campaigns for waterway users. Notices to mariners are also issued to advise of the new zone arrangements.

The new boating zones can be found in the Parks Victoria publication 'Boating Guides'  call 13 19 63 for a copy, or look for it in recent editions of Melway street directories.

Alternatively 'Boating on the Bay' may be downloaded from he Parks Victoria website,   ( Bays and Waterways )  

Boating legislation may be downloaded from the Marine Safety Victoria website   (Acts & Regulations / Vessel Operating and Zoning Rules)  

Personal Water Craft ( PWC) users are monitored by Parks Victoria and the Victorian Water Police PWC includes all boats, jets skis, kiteboards, etc.

  • revised kite board operating area near Catani Gardens

 

  • swimming only zone in front of Port Melbourne and South Melbourne Life Saving Clubs

 

  • swimming only zone between Wright and Armstrong Streets in Middle Park

 

  • boating only zone between Marina and entrance

 

  • swimming only zone between St Kilda Marina and St Kilda Pier

 

  • upgraded navigation aids and signage to improve visibility and increase understanding.
