Baby capsules keep baby safe in the car.  Make sure the capsule is fitted correctly.

Baby capsule hire service

Port Phillip residents can hire baby capsules for babies from birth to 6 months of age. The capsules are clean and fully sanitised and include all accessories for safe installation. Capsules are delievered to and collected from your home.

Capsules are $80 to hire with a $23 refundable rebate (GST inclusive). Discounts are available for holders of Pension/Health Care Cards.

Early parenting centres

Early parenting centres provide services to families with children from birth to three years of age experiencing difficulty in the early years of parenting.

Services are provided to assist with:

  • Infant settling and sleeping
  • Infant feeding, breast or bottle
  • Maternal well being
  • Special care needs of children
  • Parent-child relationship
  • Behavioural difficulties of children

Pre-school dental program

Dental treatment is available to all pre-school age children who reside in the City of Port Phillip or attend kindergartens or childcare centres in the area.

The City of Port Phillip Dental Clinic is located at Inner South Community Health. South Port Centre.  341 Coventry Street, South Melbourne. 9684-4222  

Appointments and emergency dental care

For appointments and information regarding pre-school screenings, or if your child is suffering from pain from a dental problem, please contact the Inner South Community Health Prahran Centre at 240 Malvern Road, Prahran. Telephone  (03) 9525 1300, weekdays 8am-5pm.

  • Referrals to specialist services at the Dental Hospital

Services provided

  • Dental screenings at local kindergartens, child-care centres, playgroups and neighbourhood houses.

  • A service focused on prevention with loads of information about little people's teeth.

Cost

Dental screening and oral health education is free.
Clinical treatment is free for Pre-school age children of Health Care Card holder families, and low income families.

Toy libraries

There are a number of toy libraries operating within the City of Port Phillip. Toy libraries are membership-based and enable members to borrow toys for their children during weekly borrowing times, in exchange for a modest yearly fee and assisting with the operation of the library.
