City of Port Phillip Arts Plan 2003 - 2006

The council is committed in its Corporate Plan to a city of cultural vitality. In so doing council commits itself to providing innovative leadership for the arts in the local government sector. The Arts Plan sets out to represent the views and aspirations of the arts community, and the wider community, on the future priorities for the arts in the City of Port Phillip.

This Arts Plan is still valid.  The 2007-2010 Arts Plan is currently being developed.

The vision

The City of Port Phillip is committed to promoting individual and collective wellbeing, and enhancing local community identity by facilitating the community's capacity to develop, appreciate and express creativity and vitality. The City of Port Phillip aims to raise its profile as a creative city: a place where the arts and cultural activities are explored, encouraged and valued.

The council will support and, where appropriate, partner organisations, artists, residents and visitors as they seek to contribute to the creative city. It will strategically encourage the growth of the arts and creative industries in the city's spaces, places and streetscapes as part of the development of a range of cultural precincts throughout the city.
