Annual Report 07/08
The City of Port Phillip produces an annual report detailing its activities and achievements from each financial year (July to June).
The Local Government Act 1989 (Victoria) and the Local Government Regulations 2001 outline what is to be contained in the annual report, including:
- A report of the council's operations during the financial year
- Audited financial statements for the financial year
- Audited performance statement for the financial year
The report of operations provides an accurate description of the operations of the council for the year and includes a review of the performance of the council against the council's corporate/council plan.
The Victorian Auditor-General is responsible for the audit of the financial statements and performance statement. A copy of the annual report is sent to the Minister for Local Government by 30 September each year.

Annual snapshot 07/08
The City of Port Phillip also produces an annual snapshot which summarises council's activities and achievements from each financial year (July to June).

The annual snapshot is distributed across the municipality with council's community newsletter and is mailed to non-resident ratepayers.

Council meeting
Each year, the Port Phillip Council considers its annual report at a council meeting. The meeting is open to the public. In 2008 the meeting was held on Monday 1 September where the report was adopted in principle. A further meeting to discuss the annual report will be held on Monday 27 October.
Copies of the latest annual report are available from the reception desks at the Port Melbourne, South Melbourne and St Kilda town halls during normal office hours, or contact ASSIST by telephone on (03) 9209 6777 or email ASSIST to have a copy forwarded to you.
Hard copies of annual reports have also been included in the reference collections in library branches across the City of Port Phillip.
