Advisory Commitees

Advisory Committees

As part of its commitment to good governance, quality decision-making and community participation, the City of Port Phillip has a range of committees with community and external representation.

The advisory committees were reviewed in 2006 and council adopted new terms of reference for the committees. These are provided below as downloadable documents.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee coordinates the activities of management, the internal auditing process and the Auditor-General, with a view to achieving overall organisational objectives in an efficient and effective manner.  It advises the council on the discharge of its responsibilities for financial reporting, internal controls and fostering the organisation's ethical development.

Community Grants Assessment Panel

The Community Grants Assessment Panel assesses applications for community grants. Panel members are voluntary and are not paid for their participation. For more information see the Community Grants Funding page.

The Contemporary Art Acquisition Committee provides strategic advice and expertise to Council on policy development and planning of Council's visual art acquisition.

Friends of Suai Community Taskforce

The Friends of Suai Community Taskforce promotes the Friends of Suai (East Timor) program across the Port Phillip community, and promotes and assists with ongoing relationships between the Port Phillip and Suai communities. The taskforce comprises local community members with a variety of backgrounds and interests, the Mayor and key City of Port Phillip staff.  Taskforce.  For more information see the Friends of Suai pages .

Indigenous Forum

The Indigenous Forum was established by the 2002 Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Port Phillip and local indigenous communities.

Multicultural Forum

The Multicultural Forum brings together representatives of different ethnic community groups and agencies along with some individuals.  Meetings act as a resource for multicultural representatives and provide a channel of communication between the council and the community.

Older Persons Consultative Committee

The Older Persons Consultative Committee advises on issues affecting the health and wellbeing of older residents in Port Phillip.  It is a representative group of Port Phillip residents aged 55 and over, some with a disability, who are passionate about the role of older people in the community, and keen to share skills and experience for the common good of older people.

Sustainable Community Progress Indicators Steering Committee

The Committee contributes ideas to the Sustainable Community Progress Indicators (SCPI)  project from a range of perspectives and experiences within Council and across the community.

The Rupert Bunny Foundation Subcommittee

The Rupert Bunny Foundation Subcommittee provides strategic advice and expertise to Council, and recommendations to the Rupert Bunny Foundation Committee, on the dispersal of Rupert Bunny Funds according to the VCF-RBF Deed of Trust.

Urban History Consultative Committee

The Urban History Consultative Committee (UHCC) advises the council on policy development and planning of the council's local history and heritage services.
