Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA)

The primary service VACCA provides is caring for Aboriginal children by fostering Aboriginal children into other Aboriginal families or into the child's extended family when children are in danger or parents are in need of healing. VACCA also works to restore children back to their families wherever possible. VACCA provides printed information about its work and will provide speakers where required.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984
The Australian Aboriginal Flag was first raised on 12 July 1971, National Aborigines' Day. It is popularly recognised as the flag of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia and is flown permanently at Aboriginal centres throughout Australia.
The secret instructions contained in the Letter-book carried on the Endeavour, include the Additional Instructions which authorised James Cook to take possession of 'a Continent or Land of great extent' thought to exist in southern latitudes. The second page instructs Cook 'with the Consent of the Natives to take possession of Convenient Situations in the Country in the Name of the King of Great Britain'.
