City of Port Phillip Statement of Commitment to Aboriginal Community

We acknowledge the right of Indigenous Australians to live according to their own values and customs, subject to law and we commit ourselves to respecting Aboriginal sacred sites and significant places.

The Council recognises the valuable contribution to the Port Phillip region made by Indigenous people and looks forward to a future of mutual respect and harmony.

The Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation Response to AAV AHB

The Yorta Yorta Nations Aboriginal Corporation will oppose the new Aboriginal Heritage Legislation in its entirety until there is a more comprehensive negotiation, which includes the Yorta Yorta Council of Elders, and all Traditional Owners/Nations with connections to traditional country within Victoria

Memorandum of Understanding

Aboriginal community representatives and leaders and the City of Port Phillip signed a memorandum of understanding on September 11, 2002 at the St Kilda Town Hall.
