1. Council  Plan - 7 challenges and strategic indicators

In the 2005/2009 the Council set itself 7 challenges that it wanted to focus on during its current term, where it wanted to work towards making a real difference in the city.

The following review lists the results of the strategic indicators that it set itself as well as some achievements made under each of the 7 challenges.

The 2006/2007 Annual Report has been approved by the Council, and can be viewed on the Annual Report & Meeting web page.

2. 2006/2007 Council Plan initiatives

Approximately 69% of the total 50 initiatives in the 2006/2007 Council Plan have been completed. The balance of initiatives are due to be completed in 2007/2008.

An initiative is a specific task that the organisation wants to focus on to improve service delivery or contribute to achieving the Council Plan objectives.

Please refer to the excerpt from the Port Phillip June 2007 Quarterly Management Report which provides details on completed initiatives and an exceptions report - 6 seconds download via 56K modemJune 2007 Quarterly Management Report - Initiatives Report

3. 2006/2007  Key Strategic Activities

The 2006/2007 Key Strategic Activities or Top Five issues for the organisation in 2006/2007 had set performance measures and targets.

The achievement of these targets was audited and will be reported in the 2006/2007 Annual Report as the Performance Statement.

Traditionally the council sets itself challenging targets rather than easy performance targets in order to drive performance.

While this often results in an apparently poorer level of performance than desired, it needs to be kept in mind that the bar was set very high and the results need to be viewed from the perspective of what has actually been achieved which is considered to be impressive and covered in the commentary in the Statement.

The 2006/2007 Annual Report contains the above information and provides details on the council's achievement.

Year 3 of the 2005 -2009 Council plan is available here - Year 3 of the 2005 -2009 Council Plan.
