The 2005/2006 Annual Report has been approved by the Council, and can be viewed on the Annual Report & Meeting web page.

2. 2005/2006 Council Plan initiatives

Approximately 81% of the total 69 initiatives in the 2005/2006 Council Plan have been completed. The balance of initiatives are due to be completed in 2006/2007.

An initiative is a specific task that the organisation wants to focus on to improve service delivery or contribute to achieving the Council Plan objectives.

3. 2005/2006  Key Strategic Activities

The 2005/2006 Key Strategic Activities or top eleven issues for the organisation in 2005/2006 had set performance measures and targets.

The achievement of these targets was audited and will be reported in the 2005/2006 Annual Report as the Performance Statement.

Traditionally the council sets itself challenging targets rather than easy performance targets in order to drive performance.

While this often results in an apparently poorer level of performance than desired, it needs to be kept in mind that the bar was set very high and the results need to be viewed from the perspective of what has actually been achieved which is considered to be impressive and covered in the commentary in the Statement.

While we only achieved 42% of the targets in the performance statement the commentary shows that there has been considerable progress on a number of these matters and that at least 60% of the balance are in train for achievement by early 2007. 20 seconds download via 56K modem2005/2006 Port Phillip Council Performance Statement
